I love working with students, I use a lot of hands on activities. I have a master's in reading and special education. I have over 14 years of teaching experience working with special need students. When working on basic math skills, I use a lot reinforcing activities to support addition, multiplication, subtraction, and division to build mental math skills in K-8th. I use a lot of cards, dice, dominoes, and other items. When working in reading I am trained in Sue Barton, Read 180, and SWR. I work with them in building reading comprehension, phonics, listening, vocabulary, grammar and fluency. I love assisting students with their homework needs and to assist them in organization.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a credentialed teacher in special education, I work with a variety of students who have learning issues that deal with ADD/ADHD. I have assisted them in the classroom. When working with students who have special needs, I use a variety of teaching strategies that include hands on activities, breaking down problems, and modifying assignments when needed.
