Hello! My name is Taylor and I graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering and a minor in Mathematics. During my time in college I found that teachers had complete power to make or break a student's experience in school. After my fair share of bad teachers and feeling like I was loosing passion for a subject I loved, I decided to take matters into my own hands by encouraging and helping young students interested in STEM. I became an engineering peer educator, meaning I taught an Engineering 101 class that introduced students to the different disciplines within engineering and also aimed to develop them professionally by providing lessons on how to write effective resumes and cover letters. My favorite part of this experience was getting to know the students one-on-one and getting to celebrate their successes with them when they got into their major or got that lab position. I'm still in contact with many of my students today. I found that being approachable and relatable helped to break down the student-teacher relationship barriers that typically hindered students from asking questions or seeking help. Having these communication skills and teaching experience is what inspired me to pursue my current job as a Crew/Astronaut Trainer and Flight Controller of Trajectory Operations at NASA Mission Control.

Beyond STEM tutoring, I also have over a year of experience as a Professional Development Coach and am available to do resume/cover letter reviews or interview prep for internships or jobs in the STEM field.

I know how much learning/communication styles contribute to effective teaching, so any suggestions from the students or parents on how I can best provide a great tutoring experience are very appreciated. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or to schedule a lesson!
