Saddleback College (English)
Hello there! My name is Jared, and I am a student at Saddleback College. I am currently studying to become of teach of English, Dramatic Arts, and Creative Writing. I eventually intend to transfer to UCI to obtain an M.A. in English and an M.A. of Dramatic Arts. I have limited experience in tutoring, but I have tutored before in the subjects of English and American History. I also have experience tutoring children who are either Autism spectrum or have Aspergers.
I love tutoring because it allows for a one-on-one learning experience that a traditional classroom setting cannot provide. While regular classrooms are fast-paced and general, tutoring allows for a learning experience unique to the individual's needs that cannot be obtained anywhere else. I want to do tutoring as much as I can in order to increase my teaching experience and learn how to connect to different kinds of people in the learning environment.
I have taken Honors courses in English since my first years in high school, all of which I passed with flying colors. I am currently studying to be a teacher of English at Saddleback College, with a heavy emphasis on Writing Composition. I have tutored primarily in this field for the past year, and I am well equipped to help with vocabulary, writing conventions, and conventional editing.
I have worked with Special Needs children for as long as I can remember, for many of my siblings, neighbors, and friends are either on the Autism Spectrum or have Aspergers. I have tutored children with Autism before, and will understand and accommodate their needs accordingly.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
