Hello! My name is Michal and I recently graduated Summa Cum Laude from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. I majored in applied mathematics and had a minor in data science and computer science. Since graduating, I have worked on applications for a Ph.D. in computer science, which made me passionate about becoming a tutor. After taking the GRE, I realized how many test prep companies exist in the industry and how many of them provide inaccurate test material which is hurting students' performance as well as costing them financially. I want to help change that for students, and make both the undergraduate and graduate application process easier!
Besides standardized test preparation, I have tutored calculus (both college level and high school) for the past four years at my university. I have been tutoring elementary, middle school, and high school math material since graduating and can also help with statistics and computer science. Whether you're struggling with your college application, standardized exams, or any math class, I can help!
As a math major, I have learned the rigorous proofs of all theorems involved in the high school curriculum (including calculus). Thus, my understanding of math goes beyond the standard "plug and chug" many people retrieve to when problem-solving. At the same time, I am able to offer up tips and tricks to making a difficult question easier to understand. As for standardized tests such as the ACT and SAT, I scored a 36/36 for the ACT math and an 800/800 on the math SAT subject test (both perfect scores). Just last month, I took the GRE and scored a 170/170 on the quantitative, 164/170 (94th percentile) on the verbal section, and 5.5/6 (98th percentile) on the writing portion. Since this type of test is very fresh in my mind, I can offer advice as well as practical skills to get your scores above the 90th percentile.
Currently, I have started tutoring and have students ranging from 3rd grade to high school. I have helped my students understand basics such as fractions, but also algeb
