My degree is in mathematics education and I really enjoy teaching all levels, although Algebra is my favorite. I have worked with younger students and am comfortable with Common Core teaching methods, but I also can teach high school and some college levels of math.

I have worked for several years specializing with students from 2nd grade through middle school, although I had students as young as Kindergarten through high school. I also am studying to become a math teacher and have learned a lot about the Common Core standards and methods. I am comfortable with the Common Core methods and teaching for understanding. I am a strong believer in teaching students multiple methods to complete problems and also ensuring that those students understand why those methods work. I have mastered several different teaching methods, involving diagrams, number lines, and manipulatives to teach with Common Core methods.

I admit that I struggled with Trigonometry the first time around, but in subsequent math classes, I have made sense of a lot of the finicky details. Also, sine squared plus cosine square equals one! The fact that this did not make sense at first also helps me to explain it better to you.

Very helpful and understanding

Mrs. Beth was so helpful and understood my struggles. She gave me amazing tips and was very supportive. She helped with my precalculus work with finding the missing angle and such. I will definitely schedule another session with her.

Knowledgeable and friendly

I told Beth the day before what types of material I needed help with and she had plenty of practice questions to walk me through. She also told me where I could find extra worksheets to keep practicing. I will certainly reach out to her again if I need more help.

Beth was very patient with my son. She gave him an understanding and explained the solution. Her one on one time is just what was needed. Thank you Beth you have given my son a sigh of relief knowing there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Impressive!

My 9 year old son just recently had his first session with Beth and the first thing he said after the lesson was "When can I do it again Mama? That was fun!" Music to my ears!! Getting my son to do math work is like pulling teeth so needless to say I was very impressed and relieved to learn that he enjoyed his tutoring session. I highly recommend Beth and my only regret is not finding her sooner!
