About Desiree

Bio

Hi, my name is Desiree, many of my students call me Miss Desiree. I am the oldest of 5 siblings and have been tutoring all of them, helping them with homework, and teaching them all that I know since I was a little girl. Besides that, I was a teacher at a daycare for kids K-6 and lead a classroom of about 16+, I would tutor them and help them with their homework as well! I have mostly tutored in Spanish, English (reading, writing, grammar, etc.), Elementary Math, and Psychology. When I was in high school I was a peer mentor for kids that were around my age or grades 8-12. I would check on their grades every week, working on improvement, and guide them through particularly hard obstacles in their life by giving a listening ear or some friendly advice.

I absolutely love children, teen, and all people in general. Children, in my opinion, are our future and every single child has the potential to be the best they can be, no matter their grades or their background. By tutoring them, I hope to give them a positive push in that direction along with a caring mentor and a loving friendship. Tutoring is important to me because my dream and ultimate goal is to be a teacher. By tutoring children, I am one step closer to my dream and I am helping children one by one everywhere I go. I hope that I can make a difference in all children's life for the better of their education, their lives, and themselves: hopefully I can start with you!

I have the most experience being with children this age. I have discovered that patience is key and by relating their academics to their hobbies or interests, children are able to see the bigger picture and eventually provide the focus they need onto their studies to improve and further their understanding of the subject.

I am actually working towards my Psychology degree already holding 9 units under my belt. As aforementioned, I have the most experience with kids grades K-6 in all subjects.

I took Public Speaking all throughout high school and have taken 6 units of it at the local community college. I enjoy making speech and have experience building a child's self confidence which results in having better projection, presentation, and better communication or speech skills. However, with Spanish, which is my double major, I have taken 6 units of Spanish at the community college and took 4 years of it in high school which puts me at a level 3: conversational and strong vocabulary Spanish.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate contact me! I can't wait to meet you & continue making a difference in the world. I am free weekdays only, the usual afterschool hours but am available to be flexible and am open for discussion. Thank you!
