I am currently a student at San Jose State University, and am majoring in Cell and Molecular Biology. I have taken a plethora of math and science courses ranging from Algebra, Geometry, Algebra 2, Precalculus, Calculus 1, and Calculus 2 for math, and from Biology, Physiology & Anatomy, Cell and Molecular Biology, Zoology, Botany, General Chemistry, and Organic Chemistry for science classes. I was an AP scholar in high school and I am currently on the honor roll at Las Positas College. I am transferring to San Jose State University in the Fall of 2017, and will continue my studies in upper division courses there.

I have been tutoring since I was a junior in high school, in math, science, and language courses including Spanish. I mostly tutored K-6th students in high school and have expanded to high school students since I have been in college, most typically in Algebra and Biology. Tutoring gives me an uplifting feeling to help another individual understand concepts that they may not have been able to understand before. Being a student, I know what it is like to be in a class that is too quickly paced for me, or needing extra explanation that a teacher cannot always provide during class time. Being able to bring clarity and understanding to a student is the best feeling for me, because I personally know how satisfying and what a sense of relief it is to finally understand some concepts. I typically will start off the lesson with any questions a student may have regarding concepts they don't understand, in class problems they did not understand, or homework problems they need help with. I do go over homework problems with students, however I feel that time is better spent if homework is already completed, that way there is more time to do extra practice problems on the material that was harder for student to comprehend. After homework has been completed and the student understands the material at an adequate level I like to move on to new material so they are prepared and have an advantage when coming into class the next day.

As for Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Prealgebra I have taken all three of these courses and excelled in all three of them, better than most other math courses I took. I also utilized them all the way through Calculus 1 and Calculus 2, which enhanced my understanding and knowledge of how the fundamentals of algebra can be used for greater in depth learning. Many simple algebra skills can also be applied to some chemistry concepts as well. As for science, biology and chemistry are the most exciting science subjects that I have taken, and are my favorite to teach. I have taken a variety of these classes both in high school and college (so basically twice), and excelled all times. A thorough understanding of these simpler subjects in high school created a strong foundation for me in college to connect the two courses, and the two combined fascinated me so much, I am now studying Biochemistry!
