About Michael

Bio

I love to learn just as much as I love to teach. I believe in empowering others and enabling them to reach their full potential. I believe that no one should be faulted for learning anything no matter where they are in life.

My dynamic and entertaining style can ensure that even the most dry material can stick. I am flexible and adapt to any learning style. I am quick to pick up on the methods that suit my students best; auditory, visual, kinesthetic, or other. I have tutored students...

I have tutored students young and old for several years, and am always eager to do whatever I can for others to help them in their desired fields.

English is my first language, though I was raised trilingual (Korean & Japanese). I currently own and maintain a blog which is rapidly approaching 1,000,000 views. I am responsible for editing and curating content. In school, from elementary through university, I had a reputation for being the best essay editor around.

I have more than 20 years of experience in voice.

In 2007, I received the National Choral Award, and in 2008 served as the Assistant Conductor for the Santa Clara Chorale. I apprenticed under Thomas Colohan (2 years: Master Chorale, Washington D.C.) and Elena Sharkova (10 years: Cantabile Youth Singers, California), and taught the advanced musicianship course for the Cantabile Youth Singers for more than 5 years. The musicianship course was for middle school students between the ages of 10 and 13.

I am available during most days, from 10 AM to 9 PM. I look forward to hearing from you!

I have taught music and musicianship for six years. Japanese

I have received a minor in Japanese from Santa Clara University following an unprecedented single year of study. I am conversationally fluent in "normal" or ??? Japanese. I am aware of the differences between Western and Japanese culture, have studied its history, and have been mistaken for a native Japanese while in Japan. I am fully capable of teaching anyone the basics of conversation and cultural expectations, young and old.

Voice (Music)

I spent two years at SCU studying music as their first conducting major. I was in a group of Youth Singers for a total of 15 years; singing for 13, teaching musicianship for six, and on the board of directors for two. I have a nearly five-octave range, and during high school was a part of every ACDA Regional and All-State Honor Choir I auditioned for. I received the National Choral Award in 2007.
