Hello stranger, my name is Cristian and if you are here because English class is stressing you out, I know exactly where you are coming from. Interpreting poetry, structuring your essays, and even perfecting your spelling and grammar are no simple tasks. Of course these are all skills required in order to pass your classes and get into college, but the mastery of English is actually more of a tool that you can use to improve communication skills, critical thinking, etc. In fact, your English skill set is so important, it's practically an extension of who you are and how others will perceive you.
As you might be able to tell, I really do respect...well, English! I definitely owe this instilled passion of mine to my father. Growing up he was either reading a book or writing stories for me and my siblings to read. You may be thinking to yourself, "Well of course he loves English, his dad forced him to." I admit, even with all those years of encouragement to read and write, when it came down to writing a paper for school, it was the most challenging thing I had ever faced. So what changed? At some point, I made the connection that writing is simply talking on paper, and in order to say something important and relevant, you have to make an observation and support it. See, when you approach an assigned reading as an opportunity to search for new insights and essays as an opportunity to explain your unique perception, English class becomes an opportunity to express yourself.
I was enrolled in Honors English in Middle and High School, I took AP English my senior year, and currently maintain a 4.0 in all English classes I have taken in Community College. I have a firm grasp on the varying levels of English Curriculum and specialize in Reading Comprehension and Essay Composition.
My success in English classes throughout my academic career was never driven by the pressure of over achievement. It was the fact that I genuinely enjoyed and respected the manipulation of words. The concepts you are expected to internalize by your English teachers may seem tedious or boring at first, but I encourage you to dig deeper. You may be surprised by what you find. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
