Teaching is my profession and I have taught on all levels from pre-K through college and adult learning levels. I have taught in several states including Oregon, Texas, Massachusetts, and California. I love to tailor lessons to the individual and have done that in private lessons as well as tutoring. My graduate degree is called a Master of Teaching or MAT and that title means that I am a Master Teacher. I love art, liberal arts and language arts and enjoy being part of a student's learning experience in any of these fields.
I have experience testing in the major testing fields and would enjoy helping a learner understand what to expect in the SATs or GREs. Learning how to test is a skill that is entirely possible to acquire. Testing should never keep a student out of education if they are serious about learning, want to improve their lives, and standard of living.
I was a volunteer tutor to adults at the Partners in Reading Program (PAR) at the San Jose King Library for 2 years. I helped adults learn to write emails for business and also to learn more English skills in reading and writing through vocabulary development as well as conversational English. I have self-published 3 books: 1 poetry, 1 non-fiction, and 1 memoir. I was nominated for several awards for my non-fiction book, The Rain Prayer. I love to teach literature and poetry. Students have gone on to more successful work experiences and hiring from our tutoring sessions.
I am available M-F from 10 am to 4 pm. I can be contacted by email. If you need tutoring in English (literature, reading, writing, vocabulary, grammar) or in visual art including computer graphics, or social sciences, especially American History or on the adult level, classes in the liberal arts, I am available. I have taken the SATs, GREs, Federal Civil Service tests, CBEST, and the National Teacher's Test. My professional title is National Master Teacher. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a BA in art education with a minor in English. I also have a Master of Arts in Teaching and have taught English and tutored in writing English in the PAR program at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Library in downtown San Jose. I have published 3 books.
I have 2 degrees in art, a BA in art education and a Master of Teaching in art. My work is predominately in painting: watercolors, oils and acrylics. I have over 15 years in teaching art from pre-K through college and private adult lessons.
I am a professional artist on the international level winning awards and exhibiting across the country, with jurors from major museums, galleries, and art critics in the US and Europe. I enjoy a 1-1 tutoring relationship in art especially, tailoring the lessons specifically to the student and subject.
