UC Davis (Civil Engineering)
I graduated last year from UC Davis majoring in Civil and Environmental Engineering. My main focus is on Transportation; a discipline on which I have professional experience. I worked at the Advanced Transportation Infrastructure Research Center (ATIRC) in Davis. While developing my engineering career, I was tutoring all subjects for Pioneer High School in Woodland. A few months later I got the position of In-School Suspension Coordinator for the same school. Although my title changed, my ambition to help students remained and I continued tutoring after school for a program at the Learning Center.
I am currently working for the Department of Transportation Caltrans; improving my engineering skills and mathematical knowledge. However, I know how students struggle with certain subjects such as Math, English, Physics and Chemistry; therefore, I would like to be that extra help to reach success in school. I possess several years of tutoring experience from K-12 grades, since I worked summers as a Home-Based Academy tutor for Migrant Education Program. Bilingual, my communication skills and teaching abilities put me into the best help for these students.
As an Davis graduate Engineer, my math skills are well-developed. From Algebra 1 to Calculus, I have the potential to convey the lectures in an understandable manner. This is my strongest discipline; hence, I'm passionate to share my knowledge.
High School Chemistry can be challenging, and that is a subject I always tutor students. I possess a higher understanding on balancing equations, masses, volumes, densities, and elements.
I am bilingual; dominate Spanish and English perfectly. I studied in Mexico until eight grade, therefore my Spanish qualifications are expert.
If you think math, chemistry, physics, or Spanish are extremely difficult, contact me; we will challenge them together! Angel has tutored my 15 year old son in both Chemistry and Geometry. He has been great to work with, very flexible with scheduling last minute sessions, always on time, and most important very knowledgeable in all areas my son has needed help. In just 3 sessions my son's great has gone up from a C to a B. He is great, and I highly recommend him!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
