About Sarah

I am a flexible, creative teacher with experience teaching kindergarten, student teaching second grade and teaching adult ESL classes. I also work as an academic tutor with students of all ages. I have collected a range of resources and ideas to draw on when developing lessons tailored to your child's needs. I love helping my students reach their goals and am always on the lookout for new approaches or materials to help us get there.

My lessons incorporate a variety of materials and activities, drawing on your child's interests and strengths. Together we can build skills and knowledge in a way that makes each lesson relevant and accessible to your child.

I believe that a successful tutor guides students in developing the skills and confidence to move ahead independently. I am excited to start helping your child find success and new excitement in the subject or subjects important to them!

I look forward to hearing from you. Have a great day!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Common Core

I will receive my elementary school education teaching credential in 2016, have passed the qualifying knowledge exams (CSET), and am familiar with the Common Core. I have worked as a tutor with students from 1st through 12th grade for the past six years. I enjoy personalizing lessons to meet individual student needs and interests.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have worked as a tutor with students from 1st through 12th grade for the past 8 years, taught kindergarten, student taught in second grade and am pursuing my elementary school education teaching credential. I have passed the qualifying knowledge exams (CSET). I love finding ways to make lessons fun and engaging for each student.

Study Skills

I have tutored students of all ages and frequently work with students to build good organizational and study skills. Examples include establishing one place for all incomplete and complete assignments, making a habit of writing down assignments, practicing ways to preview a text and complete work more efficiently, and producing a word web of key concepts based on previous work to review for an upcoming exam.
