Canada College (Astrophysics)
Hello everyone, I am currently attending a community college in Redwood City and have been tutoring here for 2 years. I plan on someday becoming a physicist, specializing in astrophysics. I myself had to work really hard for years to obtain the math knowledge I now have. Throughout middle school and high school I struggled a lot with math. It was until I attended college that I learned better study skills from teachers and tutors, but also got the right help.
I enjoy helping everyone with math, and helping them further develop their skills. I have worked with students in three different ways: one on one tutoring where I meet with a student, small study groups where I work with four to five students at a time, and have also lectured in front of large groups of students during math preparation programs that are offered before each semester begins. In my time tutoring I have also helped many people from Spanish speaking backgrounds progress in math. Minimum one hour appointment. Hello everyone, I am currently attending a community college in Redwood City and have been tutoring here for 2 years. Jose is a fantastic tutor. He is always very understanding when there are areas I need a little extra work on. Very pleased with Jose and his effort to go back and explain things when I need more clarification even if it's the third or fourth time I need help with review. Jose provides excellent tips and strategies that I can use on my own to help me better understand the material after we meet for tutoring. So happy to have found a tutor like Jose to help me study and succeed with my algebra and pre-algebra. Thanks, Jose.
Jose has been tutoring Zachary since 2/15/2015. Zach has had 5 sessions with Jose and is progressing well.
Jose and Zach work well together, and I get regular progress reports which I share with Zach's math teacher and his Core Teacher at Mid-Pen. high school. Feedback has been positive.
Jose is punctual and keeps in touch with me via email and texting. He has been very flexible on scheduling around our other commitments.
I do recommend him as a tutor based on his efforts so far.
Alex said Jose was helpful and looks forward to working with Jose frequently. This is important because Alex is having some difficulty with the current subject matter (working with fractions), which seems to be a problem left over from some years ago.
Jose C. is tutoring my 15-year-old son in algebra I. Jose is always punctual and pleasant.
He prepares for each lesson by asking me what exactly my son is learning in algebra that week.
He spends a full hour with my son reviewing algebra concepts, lessons, practice questions, and test-taking tips.
Jose is also a good role model. I recommend him as a tutor.
Jose is patient, focused, and likable. He shows strength of character in his personal endeavors and that shows true to his students. My son likes him and that, by itself, is huge.
Not only is he a great tutor but he is a strong role model for growing minds.
I'm very happy we found Jose. He takes the time to explain the lesson plan and answer any questions.
My son was very happy with Jose and was able to learn and retain what Jose taught him. He was very calm and clear and provided him with instruction on what to practice. My son will definitely continue on! We are happy to have found a nice young man close to home. Thanks Jose.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
