About Daniel

I have tutored students privately off and on for years. I have also worked as an instructor in grad school and am very good at developing a rapport with my students. In addition, I am very patient and always ask about how they are progressing. I try to help elucidate relevance a material with concrete examples where possible. Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Differential Equations

As a Physics major I was required to take two semesters in differential equations. Also, I tutored differential equations during a few semesters as an undergrad. Lastly, Physics is built on solutions to differential equations so I had to have a thorough understanding of them.

Fortran

I've been a programmer in Fortran for about 10 years. I am self taught in this language. I feel having to learn it on my own gives me an excellent insight into the subject.

Linear Algebra

As a physicist I have used linear algebra in a variety of applications. As a student I took may classes that built on the concepts of linear algebra. I believe both of these things have served to deepen my understanding of the subject.

MATLAB

I have programmed in MATLAB for 15 years, both professionally and academically. I have assisted college students struggling with the subject for much of that time. Often students using MATLAB have never programmed before, so it really boils down to teaching good programming practices. Writing top down code and including good documentation.

Prepared and very knowledgable

Daniel taught me some of the more complex linear algebra topics along with some vector analysis. He was prepared for the lesson and guided me through teaching step by step rather than doing the problem for me.
