Dora is an excellent Spanish teacher. She makes learning interesting, as she uses many different kinds of teaching methods. She is engaged and wants your child to learn as much as possible.
Great teacher, patient and kind, easy to work with. Dora is open to suggestions and was willing to work with his teacher. I noticed advancements in my son's reading after two sessions!!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a California Bilingual Credential which specifies I can teach preschool through 12th grade and also teach Adults. I also have a Certificate stating that I had Master's Level training in reading methods. Included are all multiple subjects including handwriting, spelling and reading, writing, study skills and English.
I am an ESL tutor for all age groups.
I have special training in Reading Recovery from St. Mary's college in Moraga, Ca. It was a 2 year program. I learned special phonics techniques to teach struggling readers. Some of those techniques include using magnetic letters, spacing cards to separate syllables, journal-writing, using chalk to write on a green board, pointing to words as the child reads them and then going back to the full sentence the child wrote with fluency and comprehension.
I've had much success teaching struggling readers, hesitant readers, younger students ranging from 3.5 years old at Achieving Stars Academy in Milpitas, California and at various other public schools with kindergarten students, first and second graders also.
I have tutored High School Spanish 1 & 2 to several students and had much success.
