Hi, I’m Kevin! I graduated summa cum laude from UCLA with a Bachelor's Degree in Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology (MCDB). My strong subjects are chemistry and biology.

My “walk before you run” teaching philosophy is to make the learning experience for students as pleasant and enjoyable as possible. I start off with very basic concepts, ensuring that students have a solid foundation to build upon before I get into more complicated concepts. Along the way, I check for students’ comprehension of the material by asking benchmark questions, which also keep them active and engaged in the learning process. I prepare students very well by throwing in variations of questions that students usually face in class so that they know how to apply the same concepts that they learned to new situations. Adapting to curveballs that instructors throw into exams is a very important skill that I want to cultivate in students.

I’ve had a year of online tutoring experience conducting regular Zoom tutoring sessions for high school students in preparation for their 2020 AP Chemistry Exam (which was administered online that year). I applied my “walk before you run” teaching philosophy to this cohort and helped them succeed on their exams even amidst the turmoil associated with the pandemic. I ensure that I will teach science subjects in a way that is very relevant to your existing class material.

My mission is to give students the confidence to grasp scientific concepts and apply them to new situations. It is a learning journey that I am excited to embark upon with them. Feel free to contact me with any questions or if you want to schedule a lesson. Best of luck with your studies!
