I am a dedicated educator who has spent her early professional life devoted to supporting students through the college entrance process and using poetry as a teaching tool. I am currently guiding a class of seniors through their college essays for La Jolla Country Day School, which gives me hands-on knowledge about highly-competitive colleges and universities, and how to guarantee success. Through Arizona State University, I have instructed Poetry in America's 'Whitman to Hip-Hop,' a survey of American poetry that provides underserved high-schoolers an opportunity to earn college credit. In my most recent teaching positions, I have worked with all ages, from 18 months to 25+years, for various organizations, including Harvard, the University of Pennsylvania Children's Center, and Sarah Lawrence College.
Whether you need a tutor for a little encouragement, or complete instruction of a whole subject, my knowledge and patience will help you achieve your goals. I am sensitive, adaptive tutor with the ability to meet you where you are, find solutions to suit your needs, and ultimately help you achieve your goals. I excel at helping high-schoolers transform their ideas about applying for college into fully-articulated, acceptance-earning essays and I am skilled at breaking down the complexities of AP Language and AP Literature courses. I have worked with many dual-language learners and neuro-diverse learners. Because of my 7+ years of experience, and my dedication to helping all people develop the skills they need to succeed, I will stay committed to assisting you as you improve and achieve greater success.
I have assisted many students in K-12 settings with English coursework, including Vocabulary, Spelling, Phonetics, Reading, AP English Language, AP English Literature, Creative Writing, Poetry, and Rhetoric. For those applying to college, I have provided extensive essay tutoring and college-prep tools. I have a flexible, open schedule and willingly accommodate urgent requests.

I attended the University of Pennsylvania where I graduated Suma Cum Laude, majoring in English with Honors in Creative Writing. I am well-versed in the tools and tactics necessary to turn something seemingly uninteresting, like Chaucer or Homer, into a subject of deep intrigue and delight. I have spent the last 2+ years teaching canonical works of poetry to high-schoolers, so I am very familiar with the kind of literature being taught today, and how best to make those texts fun for students. English was and is my favorite subject-- let me show you why it can be yours too!
