Hello there, I'm Adam! I just finished teaching English in France for almost a year, and now I've moved from the East coast to the West to see what California has to offer. I got my bachelor's degree in French and Francophone Studies after falling in love with the French language. The most valuable part of teaching or tutoring in my opinion is igniting an interest in the subject within the student. If you enjoy what you're studying you'll continue to study well beyond the end of a class, so I hope to help students find that same enjoyment in their studies that pushed me to be a language major.
I've had a personal interest in philosophy since high school, when I took the first high school philosophy class ever offered in North Carolina. Since then I've continued to read about and listen to philosophers of all stripes, and to this day I still find philosophy one of the most fascinating and under appreciated fields of study.
I've taught English to both middle and high school French students, and I minored in TESL at my university. Furthermore, having learned a second language myself, I understand how difficult and nerve-racking speaking a second language can be, so I can empathize with ESL students.
I have a deep love for the French language, French music, culture, philosophy, etc. I spend most of my free time watching French YouTube videos, so I have a treasure trove of resources and entertaining material to offer any student hoping to learn French.
If you have any questions or think that I could help you in any way, don't hesitate to contact me! I'm very much of the philosophy that people learn best when they're not stressed, so I promise to deliver a relaxed, comfortable learning environment for anyone who's interested! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
