I used to teach English in China, and teach Chinese 101 and 102 at San Francisco State University. I also do conversational tutoring for the Chinese Flagship Program at SFSU for two years. As a native Mandarin speaker, I speak perfect standard Mandarin Chinese (with an official Mandarin standardization certificate, which qualifies me to teach Chinese in China). I had contacted Hui in desperation as I was completely floundering in my medical Chinese class. She was able to accurately identify where i was making errors and provide effective tools to correct my error. She is very attentive, has a lot of experience teaching the language and she is very kind. I would absolutely recommend her to someone looking for help. I went from getting 4/20 on dictation practice to 18/20! Really remarkable tutor!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
