I am a recent graduate of Georgetown University, where I majored in Government and minored in Economics and Chinese. I have studied Mandarin Chinese for 17 years and have spent extensive time living and studying in China (Beijing, Shanghai, Qingdao, and Hong Kong). I am very passionate about the Chinese language and culture and love to share this passion with others.
I have experience teaching and tutoring students of all ages. I spent a summer as a teaching assistant at ShuRen International School in Berkeley, CA, where I assisted the teacher in teaching preschoolers Mandarin Chinese. I have also tutored at a public school in Massachusetts and was a private tutor during my time in Beijing, China. In 2012, I was awarded a Critical Language Scholarship by the U.S. Department of State for Mandarin Chinese.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have studied Mandarin Chinese for 17 years and received a minor in Mandarin Chinese from Georgetown University. In 2013, I was awarded a Critical Language Scholarship for Mandarin Chinese by the U.S. Department of State. I achieved an Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) score of Advanced Mid in Mandarin Chinese (08/06/2013) and a Chinese Computerized Adaptive Learning Comprehension Test score of Advanced (03/04/2013). I have also studied abroad in Beijing, Qingdao, Shanghai, and Hong Kong. During the summer of 2009, I assisted in teaching preschoolers Mandarin Chinese at ShuRen International School. I have also tutored students at Sheffield Elementary School and at the Holiday Inn at Deshengmen (Beijing).
