I have a very different approach to teaching others Chinese. I believe strongly in immersive learning and applying what you learn in real life scenarios. This is exactly how I learned Chinese while I lived in China. In my tutoring sessions we won't be sitting at a table in a library, we will be out in the world building what I call "associations" for the words we are learning. In addition to our meetings, we will build a study system that works for you so you can study and review what we learned in our meetings.
I speak fluent Mandarin Chinese and have been vigorously studying the language for more than 6 years now. I have been to China and Taiwan many times and return there around two times per year. I have also lived in a Chinese family and attended a Chinese High School for a whole school year. I have studied Chinese language in high school, college, online-tutoring, private-tutoring, and any other way I could find. Since I have been a student for so long, I have a unique perspective and understanding of how others will learn the language.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
