About Bradley

I am a graduate of the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA with a bachelors in mathematics, and additional concentrations in computer science, business and psychology. I completed a significant portion of the coursework for a masters in Electrical Engineering at the George Washington University in Washington, D.C.

Tutoring gives me an opportunity to share my love of learning. I enjoy helping my students expand their intellectual curiosity, and sharing in their excitement as they master new concepts, lessons and other objectives.

For the last seven school years I've tutored with Breakthrough San Francisco, an afterschool program for highly motivated, high potential students from underserved schools. I am well versed in most K-12 subjects including math, science, English, language arts, reading, and history/social studies. This experience has given me proven tools and approaches that support the learning of new material, improve study skills and increase confidence.

Prior to that, through the San Francisco School Volunteers program, I was a teaching assistant at a San Francisco High School. In addition to supporting the teacher during class lessons and exercises, I tutored students in mathematics and reading, and assisted them in outlining and writing papers. I also taught a seminar on public speaking.

While in college, I tutored for the Mathematics and Computer Science departments, working with students on an individual and group basis. Topics taught included basic math, statistics, probability and calculus as well as computer programming languages, algorithms and data structures. I also worked in the school’s library where my responsibilities included assisting students in developing research strategies and locating the necessary resources.

Whether you need to prepare for a test or quiz, or are working to master a particular concept or course, feel free to contact me with questions or to schedule a session.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Computer Science

I am a graduate of the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA with a bachelors in mathematics, and additional concentrations in computer science, business and psychology. I also completed a significant portion of the coursework for a masters in Electrical Engineering at the George Washington University in Washington, D.C.

While in college, I tutored for the Mathematics and Computer Science departments, working with students on an individual and group basis. Topics taught included basic math, statistics, probability and calculus as well as computer programming languages, algorithms and data structures.

On a professional level, I have many years of experience in the design, development, testing and support of business, technical/scientific, system and networking, and embedded software.

Logic

In addition to taking symbolic logic while in college, I have a BA in mathematics with an additional concentration in computer science. The technical side of my professional career encompasses business, technical and system software development as well as, most recently, predictive analytics. All of these require a strong understanding of theoretical and applied logic.

Microsoft Outlook

I have been a power user of MS Outlook for many years. Through hands-on training I can help you become proficient in using all aspects of this personal and business productivity tool. Skills you will obtain include sending and reading email, setting up and managing folders, establishing and maintaining contacts, creating and modifying calendar appointments, and scheduling meetings with and without resources.
