About Andrea

I am currently a full time high school AP Calculus, Calculus, and Pre-Calculus teacher in the Bay Area. I have my teaching credential and four years of teaching experience.

Prior to becoming a teacher I was a Healthcare Actuary for a insurance company and consulting firm, while tutoring on the side. I have tutored in some capacity for almost 20 years.

I majored in actuarial mathematics at Penn State University in 2001 and earned my Fellowship of the Society of Actuaries in 2008. These required mastering high levels of mathematics, and some economics and finance.

I have taught Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Calculus, Pre-Calculus, and AP Calculus (both AB and BC) in the past 4 years so am very current on the topics covered in the subjects in high school and on the AP exam.

Please contact me to learn more about my schedule and location. I look forward to working with you!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Calculus

I have a bachelors degree in actuarial mathematics and my high school teaching credential. I have tutored Calculus for many years and have taught or am currently teaching AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, and a college prep Calculus course.

Precalculus

I currently teach Pre-Calculus and Pre-Calculus Honors at the high school level.
