San Diego State University (Business--Accounting)
I was a conscientious student and enjoyed learning. I like helping students to improve their understanding of subject matter and their study habits. I believe that encouraging students to take an interest in subject matter--and discussing it with them enthusiastically--helps to improve their understanding and comprehension.
I graduated from San Diego State University with high honors and distinction in my major. I tutored high school and junior high school students in math and social studies during my years as a high school or university student. After helping one student, parents recommended me to other parents who wanted to obtain tutoring for their sons/daughters.
I am a former CPA, have been a professional accountant for approximately 30 years, and could provide valuable tutoring services for this subject especially. (My license is "Inactive" after falling short of continuing education requirements during the time I lived abroad.)
I have lived abroad and traveled to many countries. I studied Cultural Geography and subsequently worked as a paid note-taker for a Cultural Geography class. I take great interest in the subject and am able to tutor high school students.
After studying Spanish at junior high, high school, and university, I developed the ability to speak well and have been complimented on my accent by many native Spanish speakers. I believe that I could be a valuable tutor for introductory-level Spanish students. I was a conscientious student and enjoyed learning. We've corrected my pronunciation and help me walk the first step to establish confidence to have a conversation with someone else in English. He's humorous and patient. I'd like to take his tutoring next time.
Ray S. Knows Accounting very well and he can engage the student using his experience as a great teacher with his strong people's skill. Thank you for the lesson and I look forward to be working with you
I am very glad to study with him. his teaching style is very work on me. He is very nice person.
very helpful , and informative. He helped me understand my chapter better as well as , explaining the work to me, and writing down notes as well.
Ray was excellent! He was so patient, knowledgeable, and insightful. I am a novice student in accounting and he met me where I was. Meaning he got an understanding where I was and set the pace. He went through my assignment and we went step by step to write the journal entry, post to the ledger, write our income statement and balance sheet. I would would recommend him as a tutor and I already have!
Ray is an excellent tutor. He is knowledgable, clear and very patient. I look forward to more lessons with him in the future.
Ray was great, very patient and kind. I was shown some basics in Quickbooks that I didn't learn in the intro class that I attended. Learned how to Reconcile the bank statements through QB, went more in depth on the balance sheet and profit/loss statement. I realized how much more training I need to be proficient in QB.
Ray helps my daughter in math. He is very patient and his lessons are clear. He is polite and his manners are excellent. I'm lucky for having Ray
Ray prepared for the class printing English pronunciation materials before the class. He helped me identify areas that I need to improve and tips to improve before our next class.
He has helped explain concepts that I didn't get in my college class. I enjoy meeting with Ray. He is a great guy!
Before I found Ray I was really struggling in Intermediate Accounting. He got my grade from a "C" to an "A".
What I liked:
-He prepares before every tutoring session to make sure he understands everything you want to go over
-He has a strong accounting background (former CPA)
-He's organized and brings notes to every tutoring session
-He's time flexible
-He's very patient and understanding
Thank you Ray!
Ray is AMAZING. He is very patient and teaches in a very clear and effective manner. Ray was always on time and really spent the time to get the know the learning style of the student. I HIGHLY recommend him to anyone looking looking for a tutor; I will use Ray for the rest of my classes!
I went to Ray needing lots of help with a difficult accounting class for an MBA program. Ray is very nice, funny and a MASTER at accounting!
With Ray, you'll have a tutor who is an experienced, skilled accountant, as opposed to a business student who wants to make a few bucks! Importantly, he is no quitter. Ray works with you until you find a solution, no matter how difficult the problem.
And fair! Ray is highly qualified and a pleasure to work with, but charges a rate that is nearly half of what other tutors charge in this outlandishly expensive city (have a look!).
Ray is doing this because he enjoys helping and he is good at it.
Accounting trouble? Call Ray. You won't regret it.
Ray is a great tutor for accounting. He responds to your emails promptly and is on time. He helped clarify my misunderstandings and related it to the real world. I was easily able to understand the confusing accounting terminologies and ideas with Ray's help. He seems to genuinely care about your success and well-being. He often stopped and made sure I understood his explanations and made sure he wasn't going off on a tangent. If you are ever confused with accounting, Ray is here to lend a hand. His energetic and positive attitude really supports teaching a difficult subject such as accounting. With his background as a CPA, he is more than qualified to tutor accounting.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
