Boston University (Film and Television)
Hello, potential tutees,
I've been working in the film industry since about a year before I graduated from Boston University (Dec. 2012), and I've loved every minute of it. During this time, I've worn several hats, from production assistant, to camera operator, to editor, to guy-who-gets-the-coffee, and I feel that I have accrued quite a wealth of knowledge on the filmmaking process from a number of perspectives. I've worked on a feature documentary as an assistant editor and production assistant, and as a camera operator and assistant editor on another documentary that aired on Discovery Channel this summer. In addition to my professional work, I've also been a part of creating a number of short films as the cinematographer, writer, director, and editor, and I feel that this is where the bulk of my experience comes from: hands-on situations with filmmaking.
My strengths lie in editing, post-production workflow, cinematography, camera operation, and screenwriting, but my experience extends beyond these topics, and I would be happy to discuss any topic you're interested to learn about.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I studied at Boston University as a part of their School of Communication's Film/Television major. Since graduation, I have worked on a number of feature documentary films, as well as two television documentaries, one which aired on Discovery this past summer (Whitey Bulger: The Making of a Monster), and one which is currently still in production for PBS. On all of these, I acted as either the assistant editor, editor, camera operator, production assistant, or some combination thereof.
