Biology and Chemistry:

My knowledge in these two fields are mainly influenced by the experience I have gained from several years of conducting biomedical research and not just by taking courses. I was the recipient of four research scholarships during my undergraduate years and worked in the fields of biochemistry and molecular biology. After graduation, I also worked for a biotech company involved in the production of vaccines. Currently, I am studying chromosomal aberrations in head and neck cancers. With nearly a decade of experience in research and teaching, explaining biological and chemical phenomena comes very natural to me and I can easily break down any complex topic into simple terms that are easily digestible.

Piano:

Piano teaching is unfortunately an unregulated field. Over 90% of the teachers out there have not had any training in teaching and gain minimal teaching skills by experimenting on their students. Pursuing a music degree is not just about playing an instrument. It also provides a vast knowledge of theory, history, the literature for the instrument, along with pedagogical training, all of which the average piano teacher lacks. I have been through an intensive one-year course of piano pedagogy and have been officially trained to teach piano. With my involvement in other fields of study in addition to music, I have specialized in certain aspects of teaching and have a very unique approach when it comes to working with students. I greatly emphasize upon the neurological aspects involved in music, including how learning and memory occurs within the brain and various methods of mental preparation for performances. I also have an extensive knowledge of the human anatomy with respect to proper technique, injury prevention, and recovery from music-related injuries.

Biology,

Biology

I hold a B.S. in cell and developmental biology and I am currently working on my PhD in cancer biology at UCSF. With a highly detailed-oriented teaching approach, I train my students to become resilient, intelligent critical thinkers and problem solvers. I emphasize on connecting all the microscopic events to the bigger picture with real life examples to not only help my students remember the material better, but to spark enthusiasm and help them enjoy the topic.
Chemistry,

Piano

I hold a bachelor's in music (concentration in classical piano) with an extensive background in music theory and history. With one year of intensive pedagogical training and my involvement in other fields of study in addition to music, I have specialized in certain aspects of teaching music and have a unique approach. I greatly emphasize upon the neurological aspects involved in music, including how learning and memory takes place within the brain and various methods of mental preparation for performances. I actually teach my students how to practice, a skill that is rarely, if ever, taught to student. Moreover, I have an extensive knowledge of the human anatomy with respect to proper technique, injury prevention, and recovery from music-related injuries. Furthermore, I was selected as a "Pianists in Performance" artist during my last two years of undergrad.

Easygoing and Knowledgeable Tutor.

I have had Ramin as my Chen tutor for three lessons and I have learned so much from him in a short amount of time. He is a very patient, intelligent, and passionate tutor and teaches with purpose. He always makes sure that I understand the material he is teaching, and always answers any questions I pose him. He is extremely knowledgeable about the material and breaks down difficult concepts into something that is easy to understand. I would like to thank him so much for everything he has taught me, it has immensely helped.

Excellent first lesson

Really appreciated Ramin's passion, comprehensive knowledge, detail orientation and communication skills. Plus he took some extra time to make sure I was all set to begin. Looking forward to next time!

My pleasure John! I'm glad we had a robust start. I look forward to our future lessons as well!

Great tutor

My son was very impressed with Ramin. He said he really knew his stuff! He was very professional. Ramin tutored my son in honors biology (macromolecules, photosynthesis, cellular respiration) for a final exam. We will definitely be using him again! 5 stars!

Productive and Knowledgeable

Ramin has been helping me learn the foundations of chemistry for my Chem 1A class at UCI. He is thorough in teaching the concepts of each lesson, and his clear explanations make me confident that I know the material. Being well tuned-in to the student's comprehension is definitely one of his strengths. I would highly recommend him for a productive tutoring session, to feel completely in the concepts.

Great Tutor!

My daughter was struggling to understand some of the AP Biology elements but thanks to Ramin, she was able to wrap her head around it in no time.

Intuitive, intelligent and a patient tutor...

Ramin was punctual, and very knowledgeable. Because of the scope and amount of material, we had a hard time finding an AP BIology tutor. He jumped right into the subject matter and honed in to my daughter's natural way of learning. She finished her lesson and was enthusiastic.

Joanne, 3 lessons with Ramin
Tutor responded:

Thank you Joanne, for your kind words! I'm delighted to hear such wonderful feedback and glad I was able to spark enthusiasm in her. Your daughter is brilliant and it's a joy to work with her. I look forward to our future lessons.
