I love to shake out ideas, explore possibilities, and learn unexpected things with my students. I am fairly intense about the possibilities of language, the need for thought that is both wide and deep, and that one’s own best learning Praxis is its own valuable subject for study. I also think that finding out new stuff is just about the most fun there is.
I've built my skills on my time spent studying English at Stanford and Georgetown Universities (B.A. and M.A., respectively). I’m fortunate to have had the opportunity to learn from wonderful educators, and to be a part of an incredible discussion of ideas that has included millions of voices over thousands of years: the huge, ongoing conversion that continues to be had between people who want to learn together. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
