About Sue

Success in learning is knowing how to get from here to there by developing the necessary skills. It is about learning effectively. My tutoring teaching techniques focus first, on my understanding how a particular individual person learns - for example, visually, orally, through rote memorization or otherwise - and then using that information to develop a plan by which I can assist the student to learn the subject matter most effectively. I also provide a context for the subject matter being learned so that the student can more easily integrate the new information into what he or she already knows. I hold a secondary level teaching certificate, and have taught both junior and high school students as well as college and post-college level adults. I enjoy teaching and believe that everyone can learn but the challenge is to find out the best approach. Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Public Speaking

I am a credentialed English teacher and have taught students how to plan and make presentations which are organized, clear, effective, and engaging. I have studied public speaking, including extemporaneous and planned speaking, and know how to teach such skills to others. Also, as a practicing lawyer, I have much experience in speaking before the court and groups.

Extremely helpful with wide ranging knowledge!

Sue is incredibly knowledgeable and experienced with not only the legal field but also with writing skills for law students. She easily identifies exactly what needs to be done and how it needs to be done. And from there she is able to teach me what I need to do. She doesn't give away answers, which makes learning a must! 10+ stars!!
