I have been an artist since I was a young child, and my BA is in Art. I formerly owned some retail printing shops, so I have a strong understanding about providing excellent customer service. Great tutor with encyclopedic knowledge of InDesign and Photoshop plus heaven only knows what else.
I found Carl G. through a request I placed on WyzAnt. Several names were giving to me, but Carl was the only one to respond and I began two hour weekly sessions with him. His knowledge of InDesign and Photoshop is phenomenal and I have learned so much in our first three sessions that I am completely satisfied. Carl also instructed me in many keyboard shortcuts for operating my Mac computer -- a real time saver. Carl's manner is gentle, non-judgmental and patient. He adapts his instruction to your needs and desires and I look forward very much to working with him. I recommend him very highly as a tutor.

He knew the processes and quirks of the Mac Pro and he was able to understand my needs and clearly explain how to solve my problems. What we did was to process the differences between the Windows and Mac systems and find solutions to make the transitions easier.

Carl began with getting some of my more rusty Mac skills up-to-date and desktop organization/flow set up in a more efficient manner. Covered different types of backup: internal, external and off-site. And began in-depth explanation of Lightroom, helped with file organization and imports. This was just the tip of the iceberg... He is very patient and engaging. Excellent tutor! Very glad he reached out from across country to tutor remotely, it works better -much better! than in person

Structuring My Insourcing Outsourcing through Technical Learning
Carl's review of our lesson best articulates what we did. That is, there were multiple "goals" of micro and macro that all relate to use of time and economic efficiency. I've had this two day 'overload' workshops, taking little with me, and in 5 week classes learning a few skills while seeing larger scope. The latter was better, but when not applied to my office, my book, my past abilities and my focus on 're-leanring' and 'un-learning' within changing user interface I can still lose site of my own very particular goals. And, five years 'out' of a program that now addresses past challenges may visually look complicated....But, Carl had many super efficient ways to set up the remote learning that he described (off the time clock) so we could get right into the lesson. He structured the goals of time spent by listening to what I had thought was the work I needed to accomplish. It went longer than intended, but only because he was showing me simplifications of the scope of work with epson scanner and ePub in InDesign. I can really miss the Forest, so this is exactly the Professor I needed without having to get a Graphics Design degree or be at an IT center training. I can learn by doing and self-teach, but it is only knowledge and experience of someone working in the field that can wrap their head around how a small business owner must time and technology. I would of course still outsource many things, but I will know more about what I'm asking in terms of time and service, the possibilities and limitations. And, I think I can kind of use a few of those tools (thank you for the edit). break some bad habits, and start to feel good again about my computer world! Thank you.

My computer skills are a bit " behind the power curve" therefor I was a bit apprehensive to sign on for lessons. Carl's approach is to let his Student dictate the pace at the level that suits them & has the patients & the knowhow to work with them & to get the most out of their time spent. Clearly Carl has a great working knowledge & I would definitely recommend him.
