About Theodore

Intelligent, well-qualified engineer ready to help you succeed!

I have my degree in Mechanical Engineering, having graduated with a 3.95 GPA on a 4.0 scale. I received an A in all my Mathematics and Physics-based courses (including Calculus, trigonometry, physics and statistics) and was routinely the top student in my class.

I'm a very patient, experienced, and knowledgeable tutor and engineer with practical, hands on experience. I'm ready to help you succeed!

Here's a sample of feedback I recently gave one of my Physics students.

This is so you can get a sense of the level of attention and experience I offer my tutoring students (names have been changed):

"Johnny and I covered the following topics in Physics:

- The spring constant and force & energy of springs
- Conservation of energy in springs as related to Kinetic and Potential Energy, calculating velocity and spring compression
- Primary waves in springs
- Pulleys, rope tension, normal forces and frictional force; all related to Newton's Second Law

This was Johnny and my third session together, and he continued to demonstrate that he can understand and apply the concepts needed to succeed in physics.

We covered a very large amount of very technical material in only three sessions (the equivalent would be roughly 3/4 of a full semester), a lot for anybody to absorb. There was of course a push to get him ready for his final exam this coming Monday.

He's very bright and picks up the concepts quickly, and I'm certain he'll be even more successful if we continue to work together in January. There is a concern that he's just now learning some very core principals so close to the final, and this may be a reflection of a lack of good support throughout the semester (I've seen students go from zero to rock stars with just one hour a week of good support).

I do think Johnny would benefit from one last session before his final on Monday, but I also understand that there are other subjects that also need his attention.

Physics is a tough subject, especially since it continuously builds on itself (much like math), meaning that missing key concepts early on can make the rest of the semester very challenging for the student. Consistency established early on is the remedy to this issue, and I'd be more than happy to continue to help come January.

Thank you, April, and Happy Holidays!!

Best,
Ted M."

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Excellent physics tutor.

Theodore helped my daughter prepare for her physics final. She liked his review of basic concepts before moving to more complex ones. His explanations really helped her understand concepts and solve problems. Theodore easily developed rapport, he is very personal and professional.
