I enjoy tutoring and working with students because I believe that with the appropriate help all students can accomplish their academic goals and succeed in life. I love tutoring because I find it very rewarding when I see improvement and a difference in my student's education. I like working together with parents to help their children grow academically. Moreover, I have about 4 years of tutoring experience with elementary, middle, and high school students in different subjects. My favorite subject to tutor is math, but I have experience mostly working with elementary students so I feel comfortable tutoring grades pre-k-3. I also worked as a behavior therapist for about 8 years both in school and home settings. As a behaviorist I had the opportunity to not only work with students on modifying inappropriate behaviors and on teaching them appropriate ones, but I also had the opportunity to help them academically.
I have about 13 years of experience working with kids of different ages. I have a bachelor's degree in Child and Adolescent Development. I acquired my degree from California State University of Northridge. I am bilingual in English and Spanish. I enjoy working with families of different backgrounds. With patience, motivation, with one on one tutoring, with hard working students, and with parents that offer support we can make a huge difference in academics and personal life.
I have always found math to be one of my favorite subjects and strengths. When going to school, I found it exciting to learn more and more. I enjoyed learning new formulas and applying them.
I speak, read, and write Spanish. This is my native language so I am fluent in this language.
I love reading to kids and believe that through reading kids learn a lot. Reading makes a difference and stimulates imagination. Teaching students to read is crucial because if they don't know how to read they will fall behind in other subjects.
If you want to demonstrate that you can succeed academically I can be the one to guide you and help you through tutoring. I have the patience and education to help you. I look forward to working with you to help you achieve your academic goals. Thank you so much for your feedback. I really appreciate it because it helps me keep doing what I am doing or it helps me improve if needed.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
