I graduated from Yale with a BA in French. While at Yale, I was awarded 2014-15 Henry W Scott Prize for the best French essay of the academic year. I have 5+ years of experience working as a translator/text editor in fine art institutions. During my time abroad in Paris and Prague, I translated a number of exhibit captions and artist statements to illustrate the concepts behind artworks and provide historical contexts. My areas of expertise are English literature, French literature, film theory, and art history.

I grew up speaking both Korean and English at home. Thanks to my bilingual background, I was able to become fluent in French, my second language of choice, very quickly. Not only that, I built a comprehensive understanding of these three languages by comparing them and finding parallel structures, while also recognizing each language's specificities (i.e. things that are "lost in translation"). It's my biggest joy to help my students read their first book, write their first story, understand their favorite lyrics, and pass a rigorous fluency test in a foreign tongue.

I've taught SAT Reading and Writing over the last five years. I design a tailored plan for each of my students to meet their goals (e.g. their reach schools). Having prepared for the exam many times a year alongside my students, I'm familiar with different types of SAT questions. I can guide my students to identify the pattern in their errors and help interpret each text with clarity.

I graduated from Yale with a BA in History of art. While I was in Paris, I worked at la Galerie Maeght, a gallery specializing in 19th c lithographs, and l'atelier Isabelle Menu, an analog film photography studio. I also co-founded Yale Photography Society and organized the undergrad exhibits.
