I'm Justin! I am currently an undergraduate student at San Diego State University studying Linguistics and Computer Science. Before college I went through the Poway Unified School District system for my K-12 education. I don't have any formal tutoring experience, but I can say that I was always the person who my friends went to for help when they had questions about math because they knew that when they asked me for help, they always left having a better understanding of the subject they needed help in. I really enjoyed seeing my peers learning and eventually being able to understand without my help because of the initial help that I gave them. I also have a lot of international friends at my university who come to me for help in English. It happens so often that I could say that I'm pretty experienced with helping ESL students.

My Computer Science background has made me a math-oriented person. I received a 4 on the Calculus AP exam. I want to help students in Algebra because I believe that if you have a firm grasp of Algebra and function analysis, you will do well in all the next levels of math that come after that.

With my Linguistics background and experience with helping my international friends with English, I believe that I can be a helpful ESL teacher. I know what it's like to learn a second language. I learned Japanese and Tagalog on my own. I know that ESL learners need a teacher who can just be patient with the student and correct their mistakes kindly when they appear.

I studied Japanese on my own and also took classes in college. I have a firm grasp on the language and its writing system. I participated and won an award at a Japanese Speech Contest in 2016. Learning Japanese, or any language, is challenging. But with time, effort, and the right resources, it is definitely possible to pass your Japanese classes and even become fluent in the language.

Nobody understands something with 100% clarity just by going to class. This is especially true in college. At one point or another, everyone a
