I am a sophomore majoring in political science with a minor in interdisciplinary studies at San Diego State University. I have a lot of experience working with elementary school age children in a variety of environments. I have worked as a camp counselor or a camp counselor-in-training multiple times, with groups of up to 12 children. These experiences a camp counselor taught me a great deal of leadership skills, but more importantly taught me how to connect with people younger than me, finding common ground and communicating on their level. Additionally, I worked as a student aide at a summer camp where the course I helped with was focused on science for third and fourth graders. I love working with kids, as I feel like we both learn from each other because they have such unique, unfiltered ideas and thoughts.
In high school, my cumulative GPA was a 4.2, and my cumulative GPA of my freshman year of college is 3.96. At SDSU, I am a Merit Scholar and received a scholarship that covers my tuition each semester. I am also in the Weber Honors College. My biggest strengths are in my English and writing courses- I love writing essays, whether analytical or argumentative. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, dancing, being physically active, and meeting new people.
My first real job was at a summer school called Gateways, where I was a student aide for a teacher who taught a course about science to third and fourth graders. I gained a lot of extra knowledge from helping in this class, and I also learned a lot about working with kids.
English has always been my strongest subject as a student. Writing essays are enjoyable to me, and I loved reading especially as a kid. I took both AP English Language and AP English Literature in high school, and got an A in each course both semesters. I also took a semester of Rhetoric and Writing Studies at SDSU (RWS 200) where I also obtained an A. Writing has always come naturally to me, and I find English to be a fascinating subject.
As a child, I read a lot of books so
