It has been an amazing journey and I am so happy with where I am at. I have gained a lot of experience and growth throughout the years. I currently work for San Diego Continuing Education as a Disabilities Support & Services Resource Specialist. I am able to tutor core subjects, as I have previously taught GED courses to prepare students in math, English reading & writing, science, and social studies exams. However, I do specialize in math and English.
I love tutoring because I want everyone to succeed. It makes me happy to know I've made an impact in someone's life. It's quite a journey to see someone struggle--and then see them bloom and flourish. I try my best to make the experience both enjoyable and productive! I would say students warm up to me quickly because I am patient, kind, and friendly! :)
First of all, I love math! It is my favorite subject. I believe I make an excellent math tutor because I explain things very well. I know multiple strategies and I always break things down step-by-step. I do my best to explain mistakes without hurting anyone's feelings. I am quite aware of how my students are feeling and I never want to overwhelm them. And it is also important to praise them when they're doing a great job. I love seeing students smile after solving a problem!
English is my first language. I cannot imagine trying to learn this as a second-language-- there are so many weird rules and grammar points! I believe I make a great English tutor because I am able to comprehend reading assignments and summarize them to my students. I know how to explain an essay structure and techniques to get students to start writing. Essays can be so difficult sometimes, but I like to outline them in a way that makes what is
