Hi there,

I'm Rajitha! I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Neuroscience in 2020.
I've loved teaching for as long as I can remember. As a child, I was helping my younger brother with school work. In middle school, I was explaining the slope-intercept form to my friends. In high school, it was mitosis.
In college, I sought out teaching opportunities, both volunteer and paid. This has given me a wide range of experiences. I've helped 1st graders learn addition and I've assisted college...

I've helped 1st graders learn addition and I've assisted college students with their statistics problem sets.

When teaching, I focus on engaging students and ensuring a deep understanding of the material. Rather than just lecture, I try to guide students to develop their own connections and understanding.
I teach K-12 math and science classes and intro college biology, physics and neuroscience classes.
I enjoy helping students actually understand concepts and have their 'aha' moment when things click.

It would be great if you could let me know in advance what topics you would like to work on so I can be better prepared to help you.

Just shoot me a message and we can schedule a lesson.

I have worked with K-6 students in a variety of settings, teaching subjects ranging from addition to calculus. I have worked with an organization called the Du Bois Project where we focused on making math fun and encouraging elementary school students to figure things out for themselves through games and challenges. I have also tutored and mentored middle school and high school students, both working with students 1-on-1 and at a drop-in center.

I love math and I love teaching math even more! I've worked with 1st graders to college students and I can help you (or your child) at whatever level you are at. My teaching philosophy is 'less is more'. The less I say and the more I let the student figure out for themselves, the better. Instead of just lecturing, I try to also guide the student and help them solidify concepts on their own. This increases both their understanding of the material and their self confidence. Math can seem scary and I want to help everyone realize that it doesn't have to be!

Knowledgable, Warm, and Kind

I feel so very fortunate to have found Rajitha! She is the complete package of knowledge, warmth, and patience, so that I am flourishing in areas where before, without her help and support, I was floundering. Today, we developed learning strategies and a plan that fit me! She listened and took the time to explain learning concepts and then, we put these together in a comfortable way that I feel confident I can do. She is wonderful.
