Bio

I truly believe anyone can learn whatever they set their mind to. It isn't always easy, but that's where I come in.

In our sessions, I will take stock of where you are now, and help you set goals for each session, and together we will reach them, step by step. I believe in building a strong foundation of basic principles so you can move onto more advanced concepts. I have found that practice, and lots of it, is the best way to master a difficult subject.

In our sessions, I will take stock of where you are now, and help you set goals for each session, and together we will reach them, step by step. I believe in building a strong foundation of basic principles so you can move onto more advanced concepts. I have found that practice, and lots of it, is the best way to master a difficult subject.

I have studied relaxation and memorization techniques that can open your mind to receive information, as well as retrieve it when you need it. I am not a current student, so you don't have to worry that I won't be available during finals, just when you need a tutor most. Although I am new to Wyzant, I have tutored independently as well as for other sites.

Ask me those questions you don't ask during class. I'll do my best to help you understand, and maybe have some fun, too. Whether you feel hopelessly behind or just need some tips here and there, don't wait till the last minute to get help! The sooner you reach out, the better. Click the Contact button and tell me a bit about what you'd like to accomplish. I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

I have a bachelor's degree with honors in journalism and a minor in engineering. I also have completed all but one of the requirements for a master's degree in computer science.

Along the way, I earned an A in every math class I've taken: Algebra I and II, Precalculus, Calculus I, II, III, Differential Equations, Linear Algebra, Discrete Math, and Statistics. I also scored a near-perfect 790 out of 800 on both GRE quantitative and verbal sections. So, I am very qualified to help you sort out whatever concepts you're struggling with.

As a published writer of both fiction, news, and nonfiction, I can help you write essays or ace the verbal section of a standardized test. I can help you learn vocabulary as well as improve your grammar, spelling, or pronunciation. I can help ESL students with American English and acc

GRE

As a top 1% scorer, I know what it takes to crush the GRE and get into the graduate program of my dreams. I can help both high scorers and those who simply want a solid, midrange score, whether you're still an undergrad or you've been out of school for years. (I got my near-perfect score when I'd been out of school about 13 years.)

Computer Science,

Computer Science

12 out of 13 requirements for my Master's in Computer Sci have been satisfied, including Algorithms, Operating Systems, and Data Mining. I especially like helping beginners or non-majors taking their first or second programming classes.
Web Design

Web Design

I have been designing websites in HTML since the early days. I worked in web content management for a major university, and designed sites for small business and local bands on the side. I have kept current with the ever-changing standards of design and development, including Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), Javascript, JQuery, and more.

Math boring? Nah. Algebra is all about creatively solving problems, and what could be more satisfying than that? I've seen students go from fearing algebra to loving it. All it took was some one-on-one instruction and a bit of practice. I've never earned anything but A's in any math course I've taken, from algebra and geometry through calculus and beyond. I now tutor students from age 9 to adult, and I've seen impressive gains happen quickly when they are given the chance to safely ask questions and see how problems are worked out, step by step. Hearing about their successes has been the best part of being a tutor!
Precalculus,

Precalculus

I'm not a mathematician, nor do I play one on TV. But I didn't have to be in order to earn an A in every math class from basic algebra through differential equations, and neither do you! Whether you're doing OK, falling a bit behind, or completely lost, I can help you succeed in precalculus and prepare you for the fun ahead in Calc I or AP Calculus.
SAT Math,

SAT Math

I've never earned a grade besides an A in my many years of math (Algebra to Calculus and beyond), but I also know shortcuts that make hard SAT math problems easy for anyone, even those who never scored anywhere near an A in math.

Very knowledgeable and very nice

Linda went above and beyond to help me and when she wasn't sure she was quick to find out. She knew my HMTL and CSS topic and gave me a lot of pointers. I will use her again in the future. Thank you Linda.
