About Wilson

I just graduated from UCLA in Economics. I took 13 AP classes in high school and have been exposed to a tremendous amount of difficult classes in my college studies, so I feel that I have a good sense of how to help others with studying.

I scored a 5 on both my AP Calculus A and B exams. I scored a 760 on the SAT II Math subject test back in 2011. I took various math-intensive economics classes while at UCLA.

I played alto saxophone in my high school's jazz band, where I frequently improvised and competed for state competitions with complex charts. Some of the harder tunes we played were "First Circle" and "Have You Heard" by Pat Metheny, and "Intrepid Fox" by Freddie Hubbard (where I soloed), I also know how to play guitar.

I'm free almost anytime during the week. I would prefer to organize online lessons but I'm willing to meet in person as well. Let me know if you're interested in speaking with me!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT Math

I got a 760 on the SAT II math subject test, which I believe is similar to the ACT. I've gotten As in math classes throughout my time in middle and high school, ranging from Algebra up to Calc II.

Algebra 2

I took three algebra classes in middle and high school, and was exposed to algebra 2 in some of my economics classes while at UCLA.

Calculus

I received 5's on my AB and BC calc AP exams and took a lot of calculus-intensive microeconomics lower and upper divs at UCLA.

Guitar

I have extensive music/jazz theory background. I learned guitar to become more familiar with chord shapes and inversions used for comping behind solos I'd play on my alto saxophone. I had private lessons for a couple years when I was first starting out but I feel I have a good grasp of the theory and practice it takes to become better at guitar.

Saxophone

I have extensive music/jazz theory background. I began playing alto in the 6th grade and have consistently played up to present. I played in my high school's award-winning jazz band and frequently soloed in competition pieces. Now I practice pretty frequently on my own, transcribing songs and rewriting the charts into jazz tunes that I improvise over.
