My name is Michelle and I have been in the Early Childhood field for 7 years. I have had experience in teaching and implementing developmentally appropriate practices for ages 18months- 5 years of age. I was also a Lead teacher for a Private Kindergarten for about 2 years as well as a Master teacher for a subsidized preschool program, mentoring and coaching preschool teachers in Quality programming and curriculum.
Though I have many years in early childhood education, I am also a Behavioral Therapist and am currently a candidate in becoming a Registered Behavioral Therapist. I have been working with children with autism for about a year and a half.
I have previously prepped my Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten students the foundations of math skills required for elementary school. I prep my students in finding ways to help them understand and enjoy the fundamentals of math.
Being able to have children understand the phonetics of letters and understand how to put sounds of letters to create words has been an accomplishment of mine. Understanding the developmental process of early childhood enables me to create lessons that help them enjoy learning how to read.
I am able to implement and plan curriculum that practices fine motor skills to help young children in handwriting practices and create and implement strategies that can help children sound out letters to help them become better spellers.
I have a year experience in Applied Behavior Analysis approaches that help children with autism develop and strengthen the skills needed in their daily lives.
I am a passionate and caring teacher who always put the children's best interest as a priority. I believe in making learning opportunities fun and enjoyable. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have 1+ years in applied therapy analysis and am currently obtaining my RBT certification. I am also currently a Behavioral Therapist at I.N.S.T.E.P.P.S. I have been trained and currently use Strategies like PRT in helping clients with autism to help the master skills that are needed to help them become successful in using appropriate social behaviors. I have also taken many courses in my undergrad studies in special education.
