I am a recent college graduate, planning to attend either UCSD or SDSU in the fall to continue my education. I plan to study either Education Policy at UCSD or take pre-requisite courses at SDSU to then obtain a teaching credential. I plan to teach second grade at a Title 1 school, until I am accepted into graduate school. As you may gather, education is incredibly important to me and I feel as though my purpose in life is to help children learn and enjoy what they are learning. My passion for child development and learning are two of the factors that inspire me to become a tutor.
I am currently a nanny and I have over 4 years of experience working in the field. I absolutely love children and my favorite part of my current position and those before have been my ability to help them learn. I know how to make learning fun and I would love the opportunity to help you! I have worked with children from 5th to 10th grade. Some specific ways that I have helped them learn have been: making practice tests, quizzes to test knowledge, creative and interactive worksheets, activities to create memories (posters, side walk chalk), and also through repetitive rote memorization with flashcards or singing a song.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Not only did I study math during college, I loved math during elementary school. I also volunteer at an elementary school and have a lot of experience being around children who are in that age range. I am patient, kind, and attentive to the needs of children when it comes to helping them learn math. My love for math definitely shines through the most when I help children at this age learn.
I have been an avid reader for the majority of my life. In a addition to reading for pleasure, I read the newspaper every day to stay informed but also challenge my reading skills. I am a college graduate, thus I have written many papers and read many dense research papers and journals. I have experience with helping children in elementary school to young adults in high school learn how to read.
