I have completed the tutoring course at San Diego Miramar College, which requires at least 25 hours of observed tutoring experience. I graduated in the top third of my class in high school, and I have maintained my 4.0 GPA in college.
I am an honors student who performs very well in my English courses. I regularly assist fellow students with proofreading their papers, and I also gave a public presentation at the honors symposium on campus this past winter.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
In my classes, I have proven myself to be an effective public speaker. As part of my honors English course last semester, I gave a presentation at the honors symposium. I was asked soon after my presentation if I could do it again during the spring semester at the Earth Day conference on campus. This past semester, I have completed an oral communications class as part of a transfer requirement, so my knowledge is fresh and my public speaking skills are being refined.
