About Patricia

I am a high-achieving student who graduate from Cupertino High School with a GPA of 3.75; while in high school I took several AP and Honors classes. Now, I have just completed my first semester at San Jose State University with a 3.74 GPA. I have a passion for working with others; as a result, I have extensive interpersonal skills. I am an outgoing, friendly, and able to build a rapport with students.

I have experience tutoring kids, teens, and adults. As a tutor my goal is to help the students reach their full potential by giving them advice, explaining concepts in various ways, and giving them feedback on their work. For me, the best part about being a tutor is seeing how the students grow. Seeing the smile on a student's face and how proud they feel when they understand a concept that is what I love most about tutoring.

I am a Native Spanish speaker. In high school I took the SAT II Spanish test and received a score of 800/800. Additionally, I also took the AP Spanish Language and Culture Exam and passed with a 5/5.

During my Junior and Senior year in high school, I was selected to be a Core Scholar and tutor Sophomores in World History and Literature. I worked with these students to improve their argumentative essays, write various types of journal articles, and analyze literature. I took the AP English Literature and Composition Exam and passed with a score of 3/5.

I have extensive public speaking skills. I was co-captain of Interpretational speeches for Cupertino High School's speech and debate teams. While being a officer of the club I also competed in several tournaments. In 2013 I won 3rd place for Santa Clara's Philalethic Tourney for Duo interpretation. I also won 3rd place in the persuasive speech category for San Jose State University's Fall 2015 Intramural Tournament. This past semester I received a 98% (A) in my public speaking class. Recently, I became a member of the Excalibur chapter of Toastmasters and have received a few best Table Topics awards.

Theater is my passion. I was part of my high school's stage company all four years of high school and currently I am part of SJSU's Spotlite Stage Company. I have acted and been a technician in several theater productions in both Cupertino High School and San Jose State University. While in high school I competed in high school theater festival and received several awards for the one acts I acted in. If you would like additionally information regarding my theater qualifications, please contact me and I can provide you with my theater resume.

I am flexible tutor that can adjust to your learning needs. I look forward to hearing form you and helping you succeed in your studies!
