About Rosemary

In high school, I achieved a 2120 on the SAT. In May of 2015, I graduated magna cum laude from the University of San Diego. My major was English literature. In those half dozen years between these occasions, I developed a thick portfolio of work of which I am proud, and I learned how to appreciate the work of others and of myself. For that I am immensely grateful.

From my mother I received patience, empathy, inventiveness and a hearty appetite for literature- both lofty and commercial (Stephen King is a master). From my father I received an analytical mind and the wisdom that happiness is a choice, perception is reality, and thusly, we are the architects of reality.

From Professor Florczyk, I learned that "Not all poetry is good, despite what they told you in high school" (he was a riot!); then I learned how to write a poem well. From Professor Williams I learned how to write freely, and then "abandon"; I learned that trying to sound smart was restraining my talents; most usefully, I learned how to dissect a writer's prose so that I could see how they had created a certain effect using technical devices, e.g. punctuation, repetition, capitalization, etc.

My final lesson I will share comes to you from a teacher in high school whose name escapes me. She said that in order to write well, you must read what others have written. All great writers are somewhat derivative of other great writers. All great writers build upon a canon.

In the same sense, everything I have to offer you is built upon the foundation of what has been given to me. And I have been given a lot. I am confident that I can help you to achieve what it is that you wish to achieve. I listen well, and I know what it takes to elicit greatness from a student.

B.A. in English from the University of San Diego; magna cum laude; prolific writer; volunteer editor and tutor to friends whilst in high school and college; excellent understanding of grammar, spelling and punctuation

I eagerly await hearing from you! Whether you've waited until the last minute and need some assistance on a paper (I have been there!) or simply want to improve your writing skills, I can help you.

Best,
Rosemary
