Bio

I practice law in San Diego. I teach at local community colleges, and I tutor when I can because I enjoy teaching. I especially enjoy the one-on-one relationship of tutoring where I can be more of a mentor when the student is open to that. I have taught K-12 (including special education) as a substitute. I have taught Intro to Economics as a Teaching Assistant while I was in grad school. I have two teenage children whom I have taught in a home school setting. I have tutored elementary, high...

I have two teenage children whom I have taught in a home school setting. I have tutored elementary, high school, and college students; I have tutored professionals and people preparing for grad school or professional school. I tutor 55 subjects including writing, math, chemistry, economics, public speaking, political science, and law. My plain English explanations are always effective, useful, and well-received.

I look forward to engaging sessions where my students discover how fun and interesting the material is. Yes, even test prep can be fun and interesting. Contact me for more information and to schedule a lesson.

Helpful, Patient, and Stellar

I had been searching for a tutor for months to get ready for my LSAT. I had almost given up until I came across Ari. There are very few that are as patient, caring, and helpful as he is. If you feel like there is no hope, or like it is impossible for you to succeed in whichever subject is troubling you, you must have a session with Ari. Not only will he ensure that you could, in fact, succeed. But he will provide you with the tools necessary to better all aspects of your life.

Patient and encouraging .

My son has ADHD and struggles with low self/ esteem. His first reaction to a problem "I can't do it". Ari is patient and very consistent with him . He takes each math problem slowly, allowing adequate time to understand. He also praises and encourages my son through each session.

Laurette, 21 lessons with Ari

Easygoing and knowledgeable!

Ari was prompt in confirming the appointment and showing up. My daughter said he was easy to understand and patient to go back and explain if she didn't get it.

Knowledgeable, great listener, great perspective, well-rounded

Ari is a great tutor. He really has a great understanding of law school and how to prepare for law school. He is well informed about the methods of the past and the present. He is also well informed about how to target the test and the application as well. I gained valuable insight and he gave me so many ideas and feedback that I would not have thought of on my own. He also gave me great direction and structure and I definitely want to keep at it and learning and growing more from him. He is also very humble, a great listener, understanding, and can very adaptable and flexible as well. He also has a diverse background that allows him to work with a variety of students, science and non-science and he is able to understand how to target the weaknesses in students and make improvements. I look forward to working with him in the future!

Engaging from the start

Ari got our two teenage boys' attention right away from a very spirited explanation of enthalpy for their AP Chemistry class. Prior to the first meeting, Ari requested information regarding what issues they were having so he could prepare a lesson for them. That was impressive. It has been only our first lesson with Ari but the boys said that they want to consistently work with him, so it will be.
