About Jaclyn

Hello! I have been a tutor formally for two years, and informally for four years, working independently and with agencies alike. I am a senior at San Diego State University, working toward my Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science with a minor in Chemistry. I am also currently performing research in an analytical chemistry lab in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at SDSU. I am very proficient in general chemistry, and have been tutoring chemistry for two years, at both the high school and college level. I tutor math through algebra. I tutor English, writing, reading, vocabulary, and can provide in-depth help with essays. If there are any ambiguities regarding the subjects I can tutor, please do not hesitate to ask.

I believe education is the most important achievement one can work toward. With knowledge comes power and freedom. Education and knowledge are two things no one can take from you. For these reasons, I love being a tutor. I thoroughly enjoy helping people reach their educational goals; I feel it is very fulfilling for everyone involved. I plan on attending graduate school after I complete my Bachelor's. It is a field I am very passionate about and I love tutoring.

For the years I have been tutoring, more than half of my students have needed help with math. It is a very challenging subject, but one that is pertinent for educational success. The most important thing in one's mathematical career is keeping up with the material and not falling behind.

I have enjoyed chemistry since high school, and have taken a number of chemistry classes at university. I have tutored many chemistry students, and many of my students have gained an appreciation for chemistry as well.

Writing has come fairly naturally for me, and it is something I put at utmost importance, as most professions will include writing at some level. I hope to bring students closer to feeling that writing is natural for them as well.

Tutoring and helping students reach their educational goals is such a passion of mine. I take each student's case very seriously and develop a unique plan that will work for each individual. Please contact me if you have any inquiries or would like to schedule a session. I look forward to hearing from you and helping you succeed in your studies!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
