About Sean

I recently graduated from then University of San Diego where I received a full ride scholarship with an MBA in Visual Art. I am currently taking a gap year to work on my artist's portfolio as I plan to apply for grad school in order to acquire my credentials to teach in University. In the mean time, I am working with the non-profit organizations ARTS (A Reason to Survive) and Urban Surf for Kids with the goal to enrich the lives of kids, ages 5-18, through music, dance, art, and fun. This type of work along with being my brother's personal tutor has greatly bolstered my interest in teaching and fostering people who are curious about the world.

My belief is that learning is a never ending process. And it doesn't have to be hard or boring! In fact, once you understand the right way to learn and study, it can really fun and exciting.

If you want a boring tutor who will do your work for you and feed you the answers, I am not for you. My goal is to help my student rekindle their curiosity and be inspired to continue learning even when our lesson has ended.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Drawing

In high school, I took two art classes as well as AP Studio Art and AP Art History (both of which I rocked). In undergrad, I took Intro to Drawing, Intermediate Drawing and and Independent Study course with an established artist. This is a total of almost 4 years of formal training on top of drawing on my own and taking outside lessons from various artists.

Painting

My five years of formal training began with two art classes in high school as well as AP Studio Art and AP Art History (both of which I rocked). In undergrad, I studied Intro to Painting, Intermediate Painting, Advanced Painting, and an Independent Study course with an established artist.
