Northeastern University, Boston (Master's)
I am originally from the North East and my love for the Spanish language began when we had an exchange student for 3 weeks from Spain stay with my family when I was 14. From that day on I wanted to become bilingual. I studied in Sevilla during university and haven't stopped traveling to Latin America and Spain with every chance I can get. I was a high school Spanish teacher for 4 years in Boston and then became an international trip leader for an adventure travel company, leading groups of people all over the world, including South America, on hiking and biking trips. My favorite part about both of my careers is sharing my love for the Spanish language with others, with hopes that each student can walk away understanding how many doors can open up in your life when you are bilingual. I am currently a youth programs manager at a non profit in San Diego and enjoy working with high school students all over the county.
I taught Spanish 1, 2, and 3 to 9-12th grade in Boston. I also tutored for 2 years on the weekends for students in jr. high. I really enjoyed this atmosphere of working one on one with a student who was eager to practice and learn more.
I moved to San Diego with my husband in 2014 and I am trying to find as many ways as I can to incorporate the Spanish language in my life every day. I would love the chance to work with you and teach you more about this language that is used all over our country and the world. I have great references if needed. Looking forward to hearing from you. Gracias y nos vemos! Hola!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I graduated Northeastern University with a B.A in Spanish and then taught high school Spanish for 4 years in the Boston Public Schools. I had freedom of my curriculum and was able to create fun and inventive lessons to deliver to all types of learning styles in my classroom. When I taught, I continued to tutor individual students in the surrounding Boston area. After a job as a guide on the road, I have settled back in to tutoring Spanish in San Diego and very much enjoy helping students get through the steep learning curve in the beginning few years of learning Spanish.
