About William

I have taught and tutored law to younger students in high school through mock trial, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I taught motions and procedures to the students and, several times, my charges won awards for their performances and work. The school finished no lower than eighth of thirty five schools. On one occasion the team won and went on to the next level and, several times, the team finished 4th and 5th, respectively.

As a very young man, I also taught swimming. Since that time, I have also taught many people about sailing, competitive sailboat racing and tactics. I am an accomplished racing sailor and skier and I enjoy teaching the technical aspects of these sports to eager students.

I especially enjoy the satisfaction which occurs when a student "gets" a difficult concept. Once that magical moment occurs, the teacher and student embark on a journey together whereby they become partners in the student's growth and development. That process is the inspiring part of education and learning.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Criminal Justice

I taught mock trial for five years to high school students and Temecula Valley High School, where we won the County competition and finished no lower than 8 out of thirty five schools. I have a law degree from Hastings College, which is an ABA accredited law school and I have been employed as both a state prosecutor and a defense lawyer.

Swimming

I grew up swimming and playing water polo. I was three times captain of my HS swim team and water polo team. In addition, I taught swimming as a youth in HS.

Writing

I have written hundreds of papers, legal briefs and letters over the course of practicing law for 28 years. Before law school, I received several awards and much praise for my writing.
