University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) (Neuroscience)
My name is Christine and I recently graduated from UCLA in the fall of 2014, achieving a B.S. in neuroscience with a final major GPA of 3.76. As of January 2015, I have completed a year-long cancer research fellowship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in the Nanomedicine Research Center as part of the Department of Neurosurgery. During my time at UCLA, I volunteered for the Watts Tutorial Program –in which UCLA students tutored underprivileged youth from the southern Los Angeles housing projects –, project BRITE – in which UCLA students tutored juvenile delinquents at Camp Kilpatrick in Malibu—, as well as engaged in private tutoring on the side.
Based on my collegiate coursework, I am qualified to tutor arithmetic, algebra 1 and 2, geometry, trigonometry, differential and integral calculus, statistics, general and organic chemistry, physics, as well as all aspects of biology (environmental, cellular, molecular, systems). Middle school, high school and college students are welcomed.
I am a certified Emergency Medical Technician, and plan on working part time in the field while I make preparations for medical school. Hence the longevity of my availability is not pre-determined (i.e. I will not be leaving for graduate school in the near future). I currently reside in the downtown Los Angeles area, however I can travel anywhere within the greater Los Angeles area. If you have any questions, are interested in requesting my services or would like to see a full version of my resume, feel free to email me.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have taken higher level math courses in college and have extensive experience tutoring students in a variety of mathematical subjects (namely algebra 1, 2 and statistics)
I have a degree in neuroscience from UCLA, and as such have completed both basic and upper level courses in biology.
Furthermore, I have been involved in biological research for over 7 years in which I have applied my knowledge in the field.
