I am a seasoned teacher with over 25 years' classroom experience. I have taught mathematics, physics and chemistry at the high school level. My students have achieved academic success in all these subjects. I am a caring dedicated professional, who is truly concerned about the students progress in the specific subject material. I feel having a sound foundation in the basic concepts of the subject is the primary starting point when teaching. If a student falls behind in the beginning of a course, it is always extremely difficult to get caught up and the problem of comprehending is harder and harder, then finally the frustration can be overwhelming.
The tutor's job is to find where the student is having difficulties by identifying misconceptions and clarifying what is wrong, why it is wrong and how to correct it. The students that I have tutored usually make progress after several intensive tutoring sessions. Some choose to continue on a weekly basis while others prefer to be tutored when they hit the next bump in the road.
I am making a serious commitment to the student, I expect the student to make a serious commitment to learning and cooperating with me. They should always have their textbook and all graded tests and quizzes and a syllabus of course content.

Richard really helped my 15 year old son understand geometry. My son felt so much more comfortable in math after just two sessions with Rich. It was well worth it!
Richard is a kind person. He's always on time and willing to stay overtime when things aren't clear enough for our daughter.
Rich did a great job tutoring my son. He was very patient and was able to determine what knowledge gaps existed and fill those in.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
